The Pan African Federalist Movement (PAFM) in the Eastern Africa region comprises of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia. The PAFM arm in Eastern Africa is led by a Regional Coordinator and has national coordinating committees.
The underlying values of PAFM are centred around unity, self-determination, and shared destiny. Each day reminds us that despite the artificial boundaries and partitions imposed on us, our histories, struggles, and futures are deeply entwined. PAFM encourages us to reclaim our narratives, embrace our diverse cultures, and work together to build Africa into a place where our people can thrive in dignity and prosperity.
East Africa, like the rest of Africa is threatened by external forces that are exploiting or dividing us. The Pan-African Federalist Movement is challenging all Africans including East Africans to break free from the remnants of colonialism, neo-colonialism and systemic oppression and discrimination. We need to strengthen bonds across communities, nations, and foster economic cooperation, and celebrate our shared identity.
In East Africa, the Pan-African Federalist Movement is creating and using different platforms to mentor the youth and young people; advocate for social justice, support African innovation, or simply share our African stories.Â
As PAFM East Africa, we believe that our collective action and potential are limitless because together, we can build a future where Africa is not just a symbol of resilience but a beacon of progress, creativity, and hope for the world. Our participation in local, national and regional events only serves to promote integration and offer us a chance to enhance our visibility. Let us continue to carry this flame of unity, wherever we are, and honour those who paved the way for us to dream and achieve today.
In solidarity and hope,
Sarah Hasaba (PhD)
