More Leaders Trained for the PAFM Campaign for the First Pan African Federalist Congress

Updated: Sep 18, 2024

𝑺𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝑨𝒖𝒈𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝟏𝟎 - the Pan African Federalist Movement held another leadership training session with twelve more future campaign leaders.

During the training, the following was emphasized from the 𝐏𝐀𝐅𝐌 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬:

𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐭𝐲: Sovereignty is the liberty to choose one’s policy and the wherewithal to implement them. Not to be confused with independence which is a recognition by international laws of the right to exist as self-determining entity. When independence (the liberty to choose one’s policies and to operate legally on the international scene) is not accompanied by the true wherewithal to implement those policies, it is called a 𝑵𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒕𝒚. 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝.

𝐍𝐞𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦: A form of foreign control of a country mainly caused by the inability of the neo colony to afford the management of all the portions of its Sovereignty. It is maintained through “Aid”, Debt and other form of arrangement such as the use of the Neocolonialist’s currency for international trade, military assistance etc. As explained by Dr Kwame Nkrumah “Balkanization is the major instrument of neocolonialism”

𝐏𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦. The consciousness in 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂. A Pan Africanist is a person who displays a full commitment, demonstrated by their daily action, to the effort to restore the full sovereignty and repair the dignity of black people badly damaged by slavery and all forms of colonialism. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞.

𝐏𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. The solidarity networks founded on the Pan Africanist Ideology are called Pan African Movements or organizations. Pan Africanism can be expressed in a multitude of forms. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆, 𝒂 𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑴𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒎 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚. From the Spirit which gave birth to Haiti, the AME/APE Churches, and the Negro conventions to the Pan African Congress, the UNIA/ACL, the Negritude Movement, the Black Power Movement, the Black Consciousness Movement, the Rastafarian Movement, the Afrocentricity Movement, to only name a few, the common denominator is a commitment to the restoration of the full Sovereignty and reparation of the dignity of Black People.

𝐏𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦: Pan African Federalism rests of two pillars. The first one is the understanding and belief that 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. The second pillar the acceptance for this political union to be viable 𝐟𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐭𝐲.

The Link between Pan Africanism and Pan African Federalism is that the Strategic goal of Pan African Federalism, the birth of Federal Union of the African States and people, the United African States, is the 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒂 𝒏𝒐𝒏 condition for the beginning of a sustainable march towards the African renaissance the Strategical goal of Pan Africanism.

𝐏𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: The coalition of individuals and organizations who are committed to Pan African Federalism.

Siphiwe Baleka, Head of Research and Strategy for the PAFM West Africa Region stated,

"All the member states of the African Union currently have negative sovereignty which means they don't have the power to implement policies which will solve the problems of African people. The African Union is an inter-governmental organization and plans to remain so until 2063, which means, it too, does not have positive sovereignty and thus does not have the power to solve the problems of African people. Hence the Pan African necessity for each African Union member state to mutualize their sovereignty through a federated United African States. Without such an entity possessing positive sovereignty, Africa will remain a continent comprised of neo colonial states possessing negative sovereignty. That is why the over-riding imperative of all Pan Africanists right now is to set aside debate over history and ideology and join the PAFM's work to convene the First Pan African Federalist Congress which will set the conditions for establishing the positive sovereignty that is needed now."
